How to make a new friend?

There's this guy who seems pretty cool and lives in america. He's an unknown actor and I follow him on twitter but he doesnt follow me. I've aked him if hes gonna be in anything soon and he said he'll keep us posted. What can i say to him start a conversation with him thats not about acting?

Be casual, just say Hi, and ask him what his interests are, his likes and dislikes ect. But not all at once, don't be too pushy for answers and if he seems reluctant to talk or you feel like its only you asking questions just leave it because you don't want him to find you annoying. One day at a time, slowly build up the conversation.
