Certain games use the "cross play" feature, where you can play Vita games and be in the same lobby and game match as a ps3 user, games like Wipeout 2048 use this. Very few games do. But more are being put in.

You can browse the web, use apps like Youtube, Netflix, Skype, Twitter and Facebook. Theres tons of ps vita games, demos, ps minis, ps1 games and movies to download. I use mine for music and gaming on the go, as well as a video camera when i see something interesting. Theres paint apps, and all kinds of new things coming out for vita, 2013 will be a big Vita year.
