When you delete a youtube account can you use your old username for your new one?

I was hoping to use my old youtube username because I already know it so well anyway but can you do that after you've deleted your old account?

I think when you delete your old one the whole thing is gone so I think you can probably use your old name. Think it works same as twitter, facebook and email accounts. I could be wrong though
