It really depends on what you like, If I had to get a tablet I would get Apple all the way, I love apple's tablets but i dont like apple's computers as much.
To be honest it's what you like at the end of it.

If you want a tablet, get an android tablet. Most of them are more capable than an iPad, and less buggy than anything by Microsoft.

you also get Microsoft office 2013 for free on it
and if you get the keyboard and attach it to it you'll have a laptop
overall the surface is an amazing tablet and you should get it
