Reasons why my parents should get me a laptop?

Reasons why my parents should get me a laptop?
My Mum hates me using technology, yet she has her own Mac, iPod, Digital radio and and iPhone. She stays at home all day and does stuff. I need my own computer for schoolwork, 'cos I'm in my firt year of GCSEs an I need to type coursework and use the internet for sources. My Dad is happy to give me his old one if my Mum O.K.s it. She won't, however. Despite the fact that both of my parents have a 50/50 share of me, my Mum takes all control over Tech. My dad owns a couple of businesses and so can't really spend the time arguing with my mum. Instead he just agrees with everything she says. My portable DVD player has been confiscated and as has my iPod touch. The only thing I have left is my phone (samsung galaxy ace) which my Mum considers a mini computer. If I gave it to her, I would be driven into school with my younger brother, but if not, I have to walk.

Help, advice and reasons for them getting me a laptop would be much appreciated. Remember that there are 10 points up for grabs, so try to make your answer better than the others! Good luck and thank you!

You're mom is a major hypocrite :0
She has to let you have a computer, because the way society makes it these days is that you need one to get by in school. When my dad took away the family's Internet for a week, I fell behind in school.
Is there anything your mom will let you do to earn it?
I myself hate technology and hate having to use it, but it's hard to do school without a computer. The one to blame for that is society. Your mom should be able to see that.

Have you ever considered compromising?
You need the computer for school work, so you can suggest to your mother that she keeps the laptop under lock but that you can check it out for 1-3 hours per day (or however long you need it for the school work). You agree that if she catches you doing non school things (watching YouTube videos, Facebook, Twitter, etc), she can demand that you return the computer to your Dad ASAP and you will never bring it up again. There won't be any second chances. The computer is strictly for typing assignments and gathering resources. One strike and the computer is gone.
