The Patriot Act basically allows someone to be detained, and tortured if they are preceived to be a threat. The SOPA and PIPA acts would allow the government to intervene if a site is deemed to be not suitable for people to view. Finally, to make the matter worse, employees could be subjected to giving up their facebook information to be accepted into work.

Only communist in the sense that the government is becoming completely unaccountable and unquestionable - but then there's plenty of totalitarian governments who don't even claim to be communist.

The 'progressives' call it Socialism, because they can attract more people than if they stated they're flat out Commies, but flat out Commies is what they are.

Over the course of history, the USA has had numerous bad laws and bad policies put into effect.

The big strength of the US is that these things get corrected sooner or later. It's not all downhill one way or another, the reality is that we muddle through. On average, things are getting better.

It is important that you take a stand against injustice and infringement of liberties.

I wouldn't say communism because no matter what you can still have your own business in United States.Communism opposes that idea.

We are actually moving towards socialism and don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it is wrong or right. What I can tell you for sure is if we don't make changes, the capitalist system we have right now will collapse and it will take down the global economy as well.
The most successful and "happy" countries in the world as of today are socialistic.

I think that the US will blow right by socialism and become communist. DHS is out of control. All of the laws and executive directives that have been passed since 9/11 steal our rights and freedoms and open us all to government oversight in our electronic communications. Merely speaking (writing) out about this gross over-reach consigns you as a "potential threat" to the staus quo. F this government with a chain saw.

This looks like totalitarianism.

I wouldn't call it socialism, though. I'm a socialist myself, a democratic one, and this isn't any kind of socialism I would support.

It does indicate a scary growth in the repressive power of the government, though. Mostly for the benefit of the corporations and the military, I think.
