It's really up to you. You can use Twitter to share short updates, or links to stories of interest; or, you can simply subscribe to the feeds of people and companies that interest you and view what they post.

Twitter can also be good for getting a pulse of current events; you can view what is trending, or type in a name of a person, place or thing to see what people are saying about that particular subject.

Yahoo makes a Twitter application called Yahoo Sideline that is pretty cool for setting up queries on topics that interest you.

What is Twitter: Twitter is a combination of a microblogging tool and a social networking site.

Where can i post my tweets from?: You can either go to http://www.twitter.com, download your favorite twitter client to your desktop (Ex: tweetdeck), or enable your phone with twitter and send text messages to post/update your twitter status.

How to post to twitter: If your on the website click on the box under What's Happening? and start typing whatever you want to post, remember you have to keep under 141 characters.

If your using your mobile and you have it already setup with your twitter account you send a text message to 40404 and then your message, also keep under 141 characters.

How to reply to someone: To reply to someone, you need to start off with @theirusername. So for example '@bluebunny hey did you see the new car?' This makes it so you are talking to bluebunny on twitter.

How to send a direct message to someone: In order to send a direct message to any person on twitter you have to follow them and they have to follow you back. once that is done you start the message off with 'd bluebunny hey did you see the new car' The d in the beginning of the message means you are wanting to send a direct message the bluebunny is the persons username.

How to follow someone: its easy to follow people just navigate to their twitter page. http://www.twitter.com/bluebunny and click the follow button.

How to see if people @replied you. go to your twitter page and on the right you will see the following links Home @username Direct messages Favorites retweets. Click on the @yourusername and it will give you a list of all people that have either mentioned you or replied to you

How to Retweet: To retweet properly and the reason to retweet something is maybe you found something you liked that another person said but you want to share it with your followers. Simply click the retweet link under each tweet. Basically a retweet looks like this 'RT @originaltweetusername Hey get a free ipad'

Ways to use twitter: There are lots of services that integrate with twitter. I use twitter to update my expenses, my google calendar, to do lists, retrieve to do lists, to save notes and so forth.
