I am 13 years old and I am writing a book and is wanting to get published?
I am prepared for all the rejection letters and stuff. i have posted the first chapter on my Facebook notes and my friends say that they LOVE it. So could you help me try and find a way for it to get published. Like it's on shelves across the USA or worldwide and in hardback. Please give me some advice! And thank you!

That is very ambitious for you to want to publish your book. It sounds like you have already put in a lot of effort into it. First, although your friends may praise it you need to do a couple things before you publish it.
Look over your entire story, and make sure you have edited it so that you feel it is your best work. Next, have a complete stranger read and review it, better yet have a couple of people you don't know review it. You need to do this so you can have an unbiased opinion.
Next, if you find that people really do like your book, look over it again, then send it off the publishers. Beware though, they aren't going to take you very seriously at age 13, guaranteed.
Good luck, keep writing, but I strongly suggest waiting to publish until you are at least 16 or 18.

I don't have any advice, but I wish you luck. You seem very well educated for a 13 year old, considering how most 13 year old kids type.

DON'T PUT STUFF ON FACEBOOK!

Anything you submit to Facebook is theirs forever! Now they own the first chapter of your book! Sad Don't submit any more things to them...

As far as publishing goes, go here: http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/publ...hbook.html

Well firstly, finish it. Edit it to perfection. Put the page numbers in the footer too. then you will need an agent. Agents help you finish editing and help you find the perfect publisher or market you income... stuff like that. You will need the Writers Market. I believe its just under thirty dollars but its REALLY worth every penny. next, to find you the right agent, look in the in back of the book and it will shed some light on which agencies sponsor which types of books buy catagory. Find a few and make sure they except new authors. next find a few publishers that also publish the genre of your book. the catogory thing for this is right before the one for agents i believe. Next go online and search question: query letter. you want something to compare yours too after you've written it. next send it off and keep the paper normal with you address phone number and email also on the query. send it off.
theres another way to find good publishers too. if you tend to read alot of books then you can always find a book you've read in the same genre and look at the authors publisher and agent by searching it on yahoo.
hope i helped, best answer please

*sigh* Ask yourself:

-Did I finish the book?
-Did I edit it to the best it can be?
-Did I look on the internet for information?
-Did I get my hands on the Writer's Market book?

I don't think you've asked most of them. Anyways, do the following and you should be fine. It's simple and clear. Prepared for the rejections or not prepared for the rejections, do your research first. (My best advice to everyone). It's not up to anyone else except for you to get the books on the best sellers' list. YOU alone need to do your best. Good luck!

You have to go through the process like anybody else. Age doesn't matter, in fact, a lot of agents and publishing houses like younger writers.

How to get a book published:
-Finish it. Then do several editions after editing it. Make it as good as you can.
-In general books are 80,000-100,000 words (that's about 400 double-spaced pages)
-1inch margins all around in Times New Roman or Courier font
-You need to have a hook for your novel that is about 100 words long. (Like a summary that explains the whole plot and is catching. If a potential agent doesn't like this, they won't even bother with the sample pages you send). It needs to be clean and concise.
-You need to find a literary agent. To find one you need to send a query letter

How to write a query letter:
- Write a 1 page letter. In it you need to introduce yourself, explain why you would be a marketable author, etc.
-In the first paragraph state your name and that you are writing to tell the agent about your book called "--"
-Second paragraph needs to be your pitch. This is where you say why your book is great and give the plot. It needs to be 6-10 sentences long. Write all character names in capslock, state the plot and divulge the ending. This is like your hook. It is really and important and matters the most. If the person doesn't like it then they will just toss your letter in the trash. Also, talk about who the audience is and why it would appeal to certain people. State stuff that is unique about you that would make you right for their business.
-Third paragraph needs to be about you. What have you done in the writing world? Where have you been published? What have you participated in literary wise?
- If the publishing house has published a book that is similar to yours you can use this fourth paragraph to say "I understand you have published ___. My book is similar and has as much potential because..."
-In the fifth paragraph, thank them for their time spent reading your letter.
-Last, sign your name. Add your email, address, a phone number, etc.

How to find agents to send your letter to:
Look online: everybodywhosanybody.com.
Look for books: Jeff Hernan's Complete Guide to Literary Agents. Find books similar to your story and look in the acknowledgements. Most authors will thank their agent.
Look in stores: the writing and publishing section of bookstores.

Also:
You need to send out your letters in batches of 20. Don't give up! A lot will reject you and some won't even reply. But there will be someone who wants your story.
And make clear in your letter than you are young! Publishing houses love younger authors.

Look, you've got a choice ...

Either try to publish your book now .... or have patience and wait for just a few more years when there's a guarantee that you'll be a better writer than you are now! ... which means you're going to get a lot more appreciation then than you are going to get now!

In these few years while you wait ... you can practice writing ... polish your skills ... read a lot of books ... know a lot more ... so that you're really all prepared and well-stocked for the big battle when it comes!

Cheers ...

You want to publish a book so you post it on facebook? Not smart. Take it down.

Never trust a friend's opinion. They are more likely to give you a positive review just make you feel good.

Get someone you know will be brutally honest and have them read it. Have someone edit it to make sure it isn't filled with grammatical errors and run-on sentences.

Go to the book store or library to get books about publishing and the writer's market. Read them and learn as much about the process as you can.

Research online for any publishing information you can find. Research different publishing companies.

How about try to publish your book online freely?
In reality, the traditional publishers are very critical and only want to publish books they think can earn money for them.
So it always difficult for young or non-experienced authors to get their books published,

You can allow your friends read your book online. And when the others buy a copy of your book, you can earn a piece of royalty.
Overall, it's all by yourself and you don't need see any one else's eyes to allow you do so.
