HTC Wildfire S - adding google account?

I am trying to link my HTC Wildfire S to my google account.

I have a google account using a btinternet email, in case that affects anything.

It won't let me enter a space as part of my username, and my google account username is "Reece Fowler". So I can't fill in my username.
EDIT: Never mind, it's sorted now.

Enter your email ID instead of your Google username- that should do the job. Also, putting in your Google Account is mandatory without which you would not able to use some applications or download any.
