How can I get my curls back?
THIS IS LONG... BUT PLEASE READ AND ANSWER !!!!!
My natural hair type has always been curly. Not a very TIGHT kinky curl or nappy or anything like that. Just a soft spiral ringlet curl type. When I began messing with my own hair at 7 or 8 years old, I would brush out my curls because I hated having my hair curly. Then they started to unravel a little, but my hair was still curl. As I got a little older, my cousin would flat iron my hair, and by 7 grade I began flat ironing my hair with my mom's flat iron. She would warn me that my hair would get damaged and that my curls would get messed up.I didn't listen and she would ground me and hide it from me and we would argue about it but I always found the flat iron and did it anyway. I'm now a freshman in HS. My curls had COMPLETELY disappeared, my hair is now wavyish, I have a TON of split ends my hair is dry and brittle, that the ends literally BREAK off! I have white tips on my split ends, and i still flat iron my hair every week. I've never used heat protection so I known that has some to do with the split ends. I don't want to get my ends cut off because my hair is just below my breast and it took me 3 months to get it this long. I'm sorry this has been so long but it's just that I'm sick of this. My hair is so DRY!! I know about deep conditioners and all that stuff, but my mom says that she's not buying me anything, because I never wanted to listen to her when she warned me that I would damage my beautiful locks. To be honest, I never cared about my curls, but now I TRULY regret it. I know hormones can change your hair and all, but how can I get my curls back? I know I have to put down the flat iron, and get a trim and stuff, but besides that...? How do I restore my hair and get a it silky and soft with my beautiful curls... because they were gorgeous. Now my hair is this straw like brittle puff thing, and if I leave it out naturally, it will look a mess... thats the only reason why I keep straightening it. And 5 months ago, I dyed my hair without my mom's permission....(burgundy). HOW CAN I GET MY SOFT BEAUTIFUL CURLS BACK?!?!!?? AND HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE? Also.. If i do get my curls back and maybe decide to flat iron my hair for a special occasion, what should I do to make sure my curls stay and wont go away.

( My curls LITERALLY looked just like the curls Madison Pettis has... EXACTLY like this)

I used to have nice soft curly hair too! I dyed it and straighten it ALL THE TIME. Now, when I leave it natural, it's like wavy and gross and puffy. it's not pretty. Mine too is damaged, and I'd do anything to get my hair back. It'll take time to restore your hair but it'll be worth it. I'd suggest getting a shampoo that's specifically for damage repair. Maybe talk to a stylist? I know you said you don't wanna cut your hair but here's a tip if you do, when you get it trimmed, it'll repair your hair a bit AND it'll grow faster since its healthier. Anyways, I've been trying to leave my hair alone for a while. After I get outta the shower, I usually braid it or do something that will make it decent looking when dry. Try to use not as much heat or none at all.

you may not be able to get your exact curls back but restore them a little. Have you seen Andreaschoice on YouTube? She has beautiful long curls but she used to flat iron them all the time. She somehow got them back to their perfect state. Her video, I think it's called "my big healthy hair story" or something talks about how she restored her curls. Along with what she says, you can do olive oil treatments or hair masks. Look up some recipes that you can make in your own kitchen. And I know you don't want to trim your hair but you'll have to. Your hair won't grow any longer if it keeps on splitting and breaking off. Just get a trim (I know it's painful to do it now but you'll be thankful) and start a new. Scrunch your hair to make it curly and get heat protectant at Walmart the next time you go. If you want to restore the curls, stop flat ironing it and start to put it in curly hairstyles. Sleep in a bun and take it out in the morning. Use curlers. Use a diffuser after you gt out of the shower to bump up your curls and waves. After may e 2 or 3 months of healthy curl boosting, you're hair will become curlier opr waviest. But the first step is trimming it.

Aw. I'm sorry. First off stop flat ironing your hair. There are plenty other styles you can do with natural hair. Pony tails, updoos, buns, braids, fishtail, curl your hair with rollers, etc.

Second, you don't have to cut off all your hair at once. Cut an inch off every month. It's hard to explain but as your hair grows you will be cutting the dead ends off, so it will look like its about the same length.

Deep conditioning does help but its not just that. Try using all natural products. Aubrey Organics, Kinky Curly, Giovanni, Biotin etc.

Hot Oil Treatments. Basically you mix a bunch of carrier oils (extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, avacado oil etc) warm them up and massage into your scalp to promote growth and apply it to your hair. From root to end for extra shine and moisture. You put on a conditioning cap and leave the oils in for 30 minutes or overnight. Leave the oils in for as long as you want! Then in the shower shampoo or co wash you hair. http://www.curlynikki.com/2012/07/luxuri…

You dont want to weigh your hair down so use a light oil such as jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is a light oil that is the closest to the natural sebum made by our bodies. Massage a little bit on your scalp and apply some to the rest of your hair all the way to the ends.

Also I have really curly kinky hair with a little bit of heat damage. Some of my hair is curly and then I have some wavy pieces and my curl pattern is looser. I heard that protein treatments can help revert your hair back. But I don't think it will work if your hair is protein senstive. To determine if your hair is protein sensitive use a condiioner with protein in it. If your hair is dry after then it probably is protein sensitive. Don't use too much protein also that could make your hair try. Try Aubrey Organic GPB COnditioner. Or you can simply apply greek yogurt (high in protein) to the ends of your hair. Away 1-2 inches away from your scalp tho. Don't want to smell like greek yogurt. Feel free to add some lavender essential oil, it smells good. But becarfeul it is potent. You can get this stuff at health food stores or the Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, Trader Joes ( i think) or Whole Foods.

Try to tell your mom your trying to change and you need her help. Or if you get an allowence save up. Or work, so you can get the money to buy all this stuff. You could ask for it for Christmas or your birthday or whenever. Or ask for giftcards for the stores and then buy the stuff then.

Hope I helped!
