Do followers on Twitter come and go?

I am new to Twitter and finding it impossible to really get followers. I lost two followers today and I didn't even tweet anything. Do people follow you and then unfollow frequently? Tell me something about Twitter that I don't know

Twitter can be a funny thing.

Many of those I started to follow when I got on Twitter, I am not following anymore, simply because I didn't find their Tweets usefull.

In your profile, write breefly about yourself and what you are tweeting about. This can help you get followers.

If I get three this week, I expect to lose two of them next week. Perhaps they saw something of mine retweeted that they liked, followed, and then didn't see anything else that they liked and decided to unplug. You never really know why.

- Make sure you tweet at least a few times a day. Studies have shown that users with more tweets have more followers. People will unfollow you if you hardly ever tweet.
