why Americans, republicans and democrats, don't know what Liberalism means?
liberalism:
a political ideology that advocates unregulated markets, limited government, rule of law, due process, and individual liberties including freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and others it diverges into to two kinds of Liberalism: Conservative liberalism: a variant of liberalism, combining liberal values and policies with conservative stances, or, more simply, representing the right-wing of the liberal movement Social liberalism: the belief that liberalism should include social justice and that the legitimate role of the state includes addressing issues such as unemployment, health care, education, and the expansion of civil rights every one around the planet knows that except for Americans Ads |

American beliefs are manipulated by a pervasive conservative media complex intent on demonizing opposing political ideologies.

First of all, 'liberal' has meant different things at different times, based on the issues of those times. I mean, 150 years ago a liberal was someone who opposed slavery. In the 30s, a liberal was someone who advocated government activism as opposed to Hoover's approach of 'hands-off and let the market right itself naturally'.
Secondly, 'liberal' is the word Republicans used for 40 years to mean anything they didn't like or anyone they disagreed with. So Hitler was liberal and so was Stalin and Mao and George McGovern. Hell, during primaries they call -each other- liberal! After all these decades, the L-word just lost whatever meaning it might once have had. So starting with the 2008 election, they ratcheted up the rhetoric. They called Obama (and Hillary Clinton) 'marxist', 'communist', 'socialist' and 'fascist'. Of course they use these words interchangeably, as if they all meant the same thing. Which they do! They mean 'Someone we disagree with'. Even her on Y/A, you can see that 90% of the people who call Obama a socialist or marxist or whatever have no idea what the word means. They only know it's something bad, and they hate him, so he must be one. |
