If you have a site indexed on Yahoo, Google or Bing, then you should advertise with them. If the work in the UK is adult oriented (eg. porn content), you are not going to get advertisements with them.
Getting traffic from these search engines is affordable as long as you target the right person.

Another place you can advertise is on face book, Advertising on a CPM ( click per thousand ) campaign would cost you under 1$ per thousand impressions. You will be able to target the right age group in which ever country and more. On face book, you will need to create a page.

Finally search the internet for coupon codes to advertise. example search for "Google adwords coupon code" in your browser and you will find plenty to choose from. The coupon code usually gives you a $100 of free advertising to start. So good luck and be successful.
