I have iPhone 4S can I download version 5 twitter?

I just got this iphone Nov. 2012 on 3 yr contract. The only app available now for twitter is for 5 & up. Does this mean i cannot download twitter. The telus employee that sold me the iPhone did not bother to mention that the 5 was coming out in 2 weeks. I had cell before this and did not know what to ask. My life will not change without twitter i just would like to know if I have the choice to get it though.

Your iPhone has IOS (iPhones Operating System)4, that's as high as it can get for iPhone 4.
Samething happened to me but with my iPod first Generation it had IOS 3 couldn't get apps which which required IOS 4 and higher

Phone 3 = IOS 3 and lower
iPhone 4 = IOS 4 and lower
iPhone 5 = IOS 5 and lower

Click the "App Store" icon on the home screen of your iPhone. Use the icons at the bottom of the screen to browse categories of apps.
