Join your local Freecycle group online. I see tons of these things given away. You can post requests too.

Don't worry I'm not a jerk & I won't complain. but just to let you know there's people on here who wil report you for "chatting" or some other nonsensical violation.

If you want to try & get people to donate to your cause you should try yahoo-groups or Twitter. trust me! twiter is great for marketing or promoting charity work! and you'll get so many more offers than found on here. Don't get me worng, Y!A is a great place for info. but unfortunately the creators didn't want to create a chat-like environment.
