What makes a person so obsessed with other people?

It's always been like this, but why? You have twitter, facebook or whatever there is and you see "celebrities" get millions of followers. Whatever the media shows, the people just swallow without even questioning it. I think it was yesterday when Yahoo blew up with the news for Kanye and Kim having a baby. And all I see is brain-washed chimpanzees who get so "exited" about it. It just got me curious what gratification or pleasure does a person draw from gossiping/knowing/being in another person's business? And yes, I do realise that celebrities don't really hide their personal life, but that's another topic. Some are obsessive fans and some are obsessive haters. It doesn't even have to a famous person. A person who never even dated someone (for example) ends up stalking the other but this whole thing makes zero sense to me.

All I know is that the media gives them way more attention that what they deserve. I really don't know what people get out of following the daily activities of these celebs.

I think it is a little natural to be interested in other people's life. I think life would be boring if all you did was care about yourself, at least in my opinion. I think almost everyone cares to an extent about what other people do. I know It is embarassing. But i am nosy and I am a little celebrity obsessed. Ok, maybe more than a little, lol. Celebrity and fame are fantasies to me. I guess I do it because I do not really have much talk about. I do not go out much. I know I sound very pathetic but I am telling the truth.

I like Entertainment categories but I think I'm going to discontinue visits to Tmz or media takeout. People magazine is probably a nuetral safe bet, while everything else is crap.

Reality stars and musicians are dominating the entertainment news. I can only take so much of that.

Actors and actresses are actually more low key, I guess their private lives are more protected and their jbs are more of an acting career. Every now and then they make red carpet appearances. It's not so much about appearing in the news.

I think it's because normal everyday people are just so bored with their own lives that they love to hear about famous/rich people's lives. Also, I heard that people with lower self esteems tend to obsess over celebrities, I don't know why, though.

IKR... beats me..!! I have read about people who commit suicide when their fav stars get married.. I mean like seriously.. did you think that he/she'd marry you? Or was he/she your gf? I just find that "stupid" and annoying..!!
