Can you really save money through social networking sites?
My friends keep begging me to join Facebook and Twitter. Some of them claim that they find a lot of money saving offers on these sites. How does this work, and it if is really real, how much can you save, and on what?

Yes, if you will become a fan of a certain brand or business, they will often reward you with high value coupons and other discounts. Search your favorite restaurants and retailers and follow them to stay on top of these offers. Read more about this money saving venue and how you can take advantage of it at http://hubpages.com/_1wu1u1ikcf2mb/hub/S...nd-Twitter

You can save money by networking (in a social sense) with more people. Facebook allows you to maintain your communication with others so that you have more sources for advice, product reviews, etc by asking friends. There also might be groups which allow you to discuss things that will save you money. Fan pages for particular companies might offer coupons or special offers. Personally, I've saved money by looking up parties at bars that have VIP parties and then I go to the bar and give the name of the host. This gets me cheap drinks even though I didn't know the host.

Finally, there are lots of advertisements on the side of Facebook. Mine are usually related to "free" electronics, dating sites, or how to make money from home. A huge number of these ads are scams or otherwise dangerous. I don't recommend paying them much attention. Their chance of saving you money is low.

Twitter can be used to find things too if you know what you're looking for. When the Canon G11 came out, I used search.twitter.com to track people chatting about the G11. I was able to track it rollign out at Best Buys across the United States and determine that I would get it at the same speed online. I did not need to open my own Twitter account to do this. Unless you have people "following you", you will not get feedback on random questions you ask. Here too, the saving potential comes from using Twitter to connect with others and get feedback. The technology itself doesn't save you money.

Yes. A lot of business minded people these days are now doing business online. These also follows that they need to make advertisements online. Social Networking is one way of making a profit. You can socialize and respond to customer queries at a most convenient time.
