Why are all of these people suddenly following me on twitter?

I just got 33 followers since yesterday and i'm not sure why... I don't know any of these people, and most of them have thousands of followers and only following a few people... but they don't know me? Why would you follow someone you don't know?

Some people like your account and some people are called ghost followers, people who follow you and hope you follow back.

Are you part of a fandom on twitter, like One direction or something? A lot of people follow people who are in the same fandom as them. If it bothers you, just block the people. Also maybe your profile picture is provocative or something..haha.

Some of these might be fake accounts that other people build.

I got a lot of Twitter followers based on the people I follow. They are always following me when I like, comment or retweet from a celebrity. Maybe this is the same for you.
