I don't see why not. It's good for you either way.

I don't have one, because my parents don't allow me too. But since you have the freedom
to, get one! You can have another way to talk to your friends and all, and it's easy to delete an account if you dislike it. |

Personally I only ever bother with FB when I'm rather very drunk, or to keep in touch with very close friends. Convenient sometimes but I went years without that crap.

If you are a student, or have a very tight schedule, I don't recommend having a Facebook account. They are insanely, unbelievably distracting. Maybe I'm being too hyper over here, but I know a person who got facebook and all her grades nosedived.
You don't know what you're missing out unless you start something, so it's just easier not to start facebook than trying to quit it after realizing it has become a problem in your life. But it really depends for people. Just be smart, and try to decide if facebook is the correct choice for you. In some cases facebook can be useful for chatting people if you don't have very much free time, or even for conducting meetings and arranging clubs. P.s. don't click on strange links in facebook. They'll give you viruses |

I think they're too distracting. I have a couple google+ accounts for playing games & some facebook and way too many twitter accounts for work, but nothing for real, personal use and they eat up my life. I can't imagine how much of a distraction they'd be if I used social sites to talk to people I knew.
They have their uses and benefits, but don't use them just because that's what people are doing today. There are enough distractions in life - if you have something better to do with your time, do that instead. There's always phone, email, video chat, text and person-to-person contact if you want to get in touch with somebody or they want to get in touch with you. |
