How to get people following you on twitter?

I have only one person following me on twitter which is great but I would like to get some more people to follow me.

What do you do that is so amazing that people would want to follow you? Are you famous? Do you live a wild and crazy life?

Tweet about relevant topics, use hashtags, post pictures, use correct punctuation, mention Twitter users with a larger amount of followers (people may see your tweet and check your profile out), etc.

Trust me! I only have 67 followers, but that is how I go to this point.

Add followers. If you want to find people by typing in a Twitter username, click on the "Find People on Twitter" tab at the top of the page. After the page loads, type the Twitter username you are looking for in the search box and hit "Search." If the Twitter username is in the system, it will come up in the search results. If it is not in the system, Twitter will display Twitter usernames similar to the one you typed. Click on the username in the search results you want to add to the people you follow. Then click "Follow," which is located under the username on the person's profile page. To find people on other networks (by e-mail), click the "Find on Other Networks" tab on the top of the "Find People" page. Click on the type of e-mail account you have on the left-hand side of the page. Then type your e-mail address and password into the fields provided and hit "Continue." Twitter will find people who are in your address book who also have Twitter accounts for you and display them in the search results. Click on the username of the person you want to add. Then click on the "Follow" button, located under his or her username on his/her profile page. If you do not know anyone on Twitter, you can click on "Suggested Users" on the "Find People" page. Twitter will bring up a list of Twitterers they deem worthy of following. Check the box by each Twitterer you want to add to the people you follow list and click the "Follow" button at the bottom of the screen.

1) You choose a topic to tweet about. Mine is quotes to live by and the music I like
(People who like your ideas will follow you)

2) Advertise your account whenever possible like I just did and offer a follow back

Like you I'm new to twitter and so need a bit of help getting started, if you tweet to a celebrity and somehow convince them to follow you you'll get a hell of alot of followers. (I've never done it so I can't guarantee it works)

3) Follow your close friends, they'll follow you back for sure

4) Connect ALL your accounts to twitter.
