My boyfriend's has all his friends kids call him uncle...why?

My boyfriend (in his 40) several of his friends daughters call him uncle by his request. He is friends with them on facebook, twitter and text them from time to time. (they are in college and high school girls) He has nieces of his own. I don't understand I never called my dads friends uncle growing up. Is this normal...what are your options?

Well in China its customary to call aunt or uncle all elders who you appreciate/respect. It's normal.

Why? Probably because it makes him feel like he and the kids have a close relationship.

It may seem a bit weird, but it's pretty normal. That's just how close they are with their friends. You can also ask him why they call him that in a serious way or a joking way(I would try this one).
