Nazi Fascists - Communists Socialists and Liberals have one thing in common.
They are all Collectivists where us Libertarians are Individuals. Collectivism is any philosophic, political, religious, economic, or social outlook that emphasizes the dependence of human beings on others (in contrast to independence or interdependence). Collectivism is a basic cultural element that exists as the reverse of individualism in human nature (in the same way high context culture exists as the reverse of low context culture), and stresses the priority of group goals defined by a few over the goals of individuals and the importance of compliance within social groups (such as an "in-group", in what specific context it is defined). Collectivists usually focus on community, society, or nation. It is used and has been used as an element in many different and diverse types of government and political, economic and educational philosophies throughout history and most human societies, in practice, contain elements of both individualism and collectivism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collectivism Note that Wikipedia uses the word Liberal the way the world uses it. Not the way we use it here in America where Liberal means Collectivism. Individualism is the moral stance, political philosophy, ideology, or social outlook that emphasizes "the moral worth of the individual".[1] Individualists promote the exercise of one's goals and desires and so value independence and self-reliance[2] while opposing external interference upon one's own interests by society or institutions such as the government.[2] Individualism makes the individual its focus[1] and so starts "with the fundamental premise that the human individual is of primary importance in the struggle for liberation." Liberalism, existentialism and anarchism are examples of movements that take the human individual as a central unit of analysis.[3] It has also been used as a term denoting "The quality of being an individual; individuality"[2] related to possessing "An individual characteristic; a quirk."[2] Individualism is thus also associated with artistic and bohemian interests and lifestyles where there is a tendency towards self-creation and experimentation as opposed to tradition or popular mass opinions and behaviors[2][4] as so also with humanist philosophical positions and ethics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Individualism Wikipedia is right since 95% of the world recognizes Liberalism in the same way we recognize Libertarian today. |
