Search Engine Marketing and Search Engine Optimization are the way to go if you have a website. If not, personal networking works geat. Make a profile for yourself on Linked In, Facebook and all those networking sites, trust me it helps a ton.

Theirs always a way out! Creative advertising and word of mouth is a good place to start. Advertise the business "for sale" in a variety of places such as craigslist (free), faxes, your local newspaper and the chamber of commerce to begin. Also, the AMA (American Marketing Association) I believe has employer resources with for sale listings available. See what type of response this generates and re-evaluate if necessary.
