What type of phone should i get?

Hey
Iam an 19 year old male. I have an iPhone 3G... yes a 3G which has only 8GB and lately i was thinking on upgrading.
I dont know stupid people like come up to me and say "wow man i havent seen that phone in so long!" or "man you should upgrade"
Now i dont want to get a phone lol Like i dont care if people tell me to upgrade, because up until recent, my phone has been working just fine. I only use it to text and a little talk. And maybe use 1 or 2 apps the most, and internet from time to time. Iam not constantly on my phone, again, i just have it incase someone needs to get in contact with me.
But the reason why i now need a new phone its because, my phone is 4 or 5 years old almost, and its breaking down on me lol.
Sometimes the sim card wont read anymore, my power button does not work so its on always,it freezes and crashes. But ik all the tricks to my phone so i know how to fix these issues. Its just it gets quite annoying sometimes.

I was thinking of either upgrading to the iPhone 5 or samsung s 3.
Some people say the iphone some say the samsung.
But i might just go with the samsung since its cheaper.
Oh and i need like a map and navigator now, forgot to mention. I need that and just my bank app too, chase and thats it.
Also which carrier will give me the lowest price and good service?

Iphone forget the rest iphone 4s or 5 once you get one you wont even bother with anything else

IPhone, as are ALL Apple products, are overpriced, way overrated, and overpriced. They're nothing more than an Apple fanboys status symbol, and that's ALL they are! Get a Samsung Galaxy S3. It's Android, which is superior to ios. And, the S3 is superior to ANY iPhone. Hands down! So what if Apple has 400,000 apps when they're dictated, and tightly controlled by Apple! Apple, and only Apple decides what YOU will, or will NOT have in an app! This is NOT true with Android apps, and contrary to what Apple fanboys will claim, are not full of malware, and viruses. I've been downloading Android apps for over four years, and have NEVER gotten viruses, or malware infection on my Droid. I'm getting the Galaxy S3 after the New Year. Get it, you'll NOT regret it, and you won't look back!

If I were you, I would get a Nokia Lumia 920. It works with gloves on, has the BEST camera, very good build quality, has survived many drop tests undamaged, great for Facebook and twitter, Xbox Live integration, works with Mac and PC, has decent battery life in contrast to an iphone or galaxy, has wireless charging technology, and is available in many different colors.
