How to send a message on Twitter to someone who doesn't follow me?
I have to send someone a message but when I tried direct messaging them it didn't work because they have to follow me apparently? I just want to send them a message and not tweet it? I am a newbie with Twitter so anything will help!

Just type their username and then the message and it will show up in their mentions
@name the message
