Environmental problems are now nearing the point of no return; unless they are dealt with NOW we will have no way of avoiding catastrophe in the future.
Sustainable development MUST be the first and only choice.
A lack of water will lead to further desertification, deforestation and depopulation. There are now too many people consuming and wasting too much water. Lifestyle choices, political will and social mores have all conspired to make water a rapidly vanishing resource.
The food of tomorrow has to be naturally produced, seasonal and local. There can be no future in producing peas in Kenya for consumption in the UK, when the land is needed to produce essential foodstuffs for the local market. We must reduce or eliminate our dependence on meat and meat products, often produced in unsatisfactory conditions and at an extreme cost to the environment.
