Teacher job market? Northwest?

I am currently a high school student. Ever since I was young I have wanted to be a teacher (probably Social Studies but maybe Spanish). I'm a junior now, and I know the job market is competitive out there, especially for Social Studies teachers. I was just wondering what the job market out there; where is it best, where is it worst? If you happen to have knowledge of the Pacific Northwest region, that would be especially helpful.

You should be fine. You have a few things going for you.

time: You wont be teaching for about 8 years.. the economy will improve.
the market: the sad fact is that half of all teachers quit within 5 years. There will always be needs.
