How to get the guts to make a Facebook and Twitter?

I'm 17 and I don't even have a Facebook, or Twitter or even an Instagram. Simply because I have a fear of putting myself out there like that. For everyone to see. How can I overcome this? I kind of feel like I'm missing out. I feel like I've missed out on meeting cool people that way, since in person I'm terribly shy. I care about what people think a lot, sadly.

well facebook is really safe if you keep your profile private. twitter is safe as well because you can put your profile as you get to choose if you want someone to follow you or not if they requested to follow you (settings). i dont know about instagram since i dont have one but facebook and twitter are safe

What I did is I don't put things like my school or my town or my picture on there. That way you can't have any creepy stalkers or have anybody be mean to you. And if somebody is mean you can always unfriendly them and block them. I also have all my privacy settings up.

Awh you are feeling shy, that's a shame !, I was on Facebook for years but i decided to de activate! personally I found it a waste of time, Sure i am quite a popular girl had lots of friends 900+ ... just that i found Fbook to be full of gossip! Its public gossip pages for nosey teenagers trying to keep their reputation in order! ... well that is what i think!
That's just the way people in my city are tho! gossips ! Attention seekers! ...

But it could be a good thing for you to sign up, could help you with your self esteem, Facebook is fun i say you give it a go, but remember people are watching
