How do you send someone a message on Twitter?

you can put @ and then their username or to direct message them you can put d + username + message

you can @reply to somebody by typing @usernamegoeshere
or
send a direct message by going to the person's profile and next to where it says "Lists" there's going to be another drop down menu, just select, direct message, and send them a message.

Note - You can only direct message somebody if they allow it
