process for formatting my windows7 dell inspioron 545 desktop?
im trying to format my dell inspiron 545 desktop. OS is windows 7. i absolutey know nothing about a computer beside playing games and internet(shame on me). just a simple question.
HOW DO I DO IT?

i know u need discs to reinstall everything. i have 'Drviers and utilities' and drivers and documentation' disc but no windows7 disc. a lot of people say that i will need a windows7 disc cuz im wiping everything off my computer including my windows7. im just little scared to do it because i really need my computer and internet access for online school and gaming of couse lol.

ill just list my questions below.

1. do i need any other cds besides ones that i have?
2. after i format my hard drive, am i going to have a internet access right away?(i have modem connected to my desktop)

if you can tell me how to do it step by step. i will really appreciate it

reason for formatting my computer is cuz everytime i turn my computer on, it doesnt start a windows7 unless i start in a safe mode.

Thank you guys so much.

Hi,

1. If you don't have a W7 installation disk then do not format the pc.

2. No, your hard drive will be blank and the pc will not start at all.8-((

Formatting a drive wipes the drive completely clean.

Once the hard drive is formatted you will need to re-install windows and possibly add the drivers if they are not installed from the cd automatically, they should be on the drivers disk

Why not solve the problem with the windows installation as then you would not have to re-format and re-install.

What sort of problem are you having with the pc when it starts in normal mode?

Hi Steven,
My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.
If your restore partition is intact, you should be able to restore your computer's software back to factory settings with using any disks.

You can follow the instructions from http://support.dell.com/support/topics/g...egacy=true

Hope this helps.
