A bad connector on the laptop. The solder joints crack and you have to wiggle the cord or hold it in a certain position to make the charger work. Not an easy fix.

The solution to your problem lies in one of the following three areas:

1.) Your charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery.

2.) The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection.

3.) Your battery is faulty.

I think possibility 2 is the most likely, although you will have to test possibility 3 by removing the battery and plugging in your charger and seeing if the laptop powers on.If it does power on then that rules out possibility 1 and 2 leaving a faulty battery.

I think the most likely possible cause is your charging connectore is loose, you can read the following article which shows us how to fix it by ourselves:

Hello, I am Nitika from the Dell Social Media outreach team.

To recognize this issue we have to
1. Reseat the adapter cable & check
2. Check with a spare charger and also try connecting your adapter with another system if it works fine
3. Also check if adapter cable is frayed or damaged
We might have to replace the adapter if spare adapter is working fine on your system
If possible please provide me your system service tag so that I can check your order details and give you the correct driver & some settings which needs to be changed

And you can find the service tag

**on the bottom of the laptop on the white sticker
**it’s a seven digit alphanumeric code which ends with BS or number 1.

If in case you do face any challenges in the process, please feel free to contact me directly by sending me an email or by through a reply to this blog.

We would recommend you do not post your private information on a public forum and if in incase any specific contact details need to be shared, please use a private message.

I think there's an internal problem with the connector. Try to send your laptop to professional technicians to have a further test. Also check out laptopaid.com for any laptop replacement parts.
