What other ways to promote an ipad comic?

I need ways to promote an ipad comic other than posting it on the internet forums and on itunes. Any ideas?

Publish a short "teaser" issue for free download and get people hooked

Make business cards with your comic's logo and the url on it, along with "First issue free!" and ask your local comic shops if you can leave it at their business. Alternately, include a coupon code so people get a discount.

Find someone who blogs about comics similar to yours put out by small companies. Check their blog's comments to see how many people reply. Send them a message asking them if they'd like to review your comic for a free copy. Do this two or three times and reach a big readership.

Possibly try creating a small puzzle game or ARG set in the same world as your comic. They can be very inexpensive and people get completely obsessed with them. They can be as simple or as complex as you want them to be, but the idea is you solve puzzles and find clues in order to get to the next step in a story.
Simplistic example- stickers with a mysterious logo are being given away at your local library. On the bottom of the sticker is a URL. The url leads to a youtube video of some weird flashing lights and beeping that turns out to be a code. Posting the code word in the comments means you get linked to a download of a special short story comic set in your comic's world.


Find a webcomic you think would appeal to the same readership as your comic and buy some adspace.

Make t-shirts on cafepress. Have a contest on twitter or facebook for people who like or tweet about your comic and draw one name to get a free t-shirt.
