cannot get a file on my sdhc lexar 4gb to even appear on my mac book pro?

i need help. i have a mac book pro and my friend has a dell. when i install my lexar 4gb sdhc, it shows all files that are saved to this disk on my friends dell. however, when i plug this same disk into my mac book pro. it only shows mp4 videos. it does not show avi videos or any pictures that are on this lexar 4gb disk. it is as if the files are not even there when they are clearly on this disk. Is there a setting on my mac book pro where its set not to view anything but mp4 videos. please help if you can, thank you

Michael,

You may need some codecs to read the avi files on the card with your iMac.
AVI files can be divx as well as xvid or 3ivx,but if it is just AVI then, a VLC player works to play just about anything. You can do a search on the internet for these codecs and install them on your system.
