how to customize twitter profile?

i JUST made a twitter account and i don't understand how to do or use anything! no one i know has one, and i am currently "following " my ex-boyfriend whom i am no longer in contact with. i don't even know what it means to "follow" or be "followed."

can someone PLEASE fill me in on the basics?

Well when u follow someone u get updated when ever they update theirs and when sum1 follows u that means whenever u post sumthing new they get updated and to costumize it click settings then design scroll down and click change bg image or just choose a theme that they have. or click picture which is by design and choose a pic

Twitter is a space for random thoughts, which you can post messages on with your blackberry, phone or through the internet.

Your Home, is where you can see other people's updates, people you follow and it also contains a little space to add your random thought.

Your Profile, is as the name suggest your profile where you can view your updates, followers and who you follow.
