Whats the best way to build a community online?

TopMyBlog.com is a new social media sharing site that I developed that strives to connect people who interested in creating digital media with integrity. I've done an awful lot of link building to increase web presence and visibility, but for the life of me I cannot get people to interact with the site(commenting, ranking, etc.) What am I missing? and what can I do to get people involved with the site?

Any suggestions would most certainly help.

You should be connecting with blogs to help promote your site. If they see themselves listed on the site they are more likely to help promote it. I use Todaypulse to help me keep in touch with my followers and keep engaging them. Respond, Answer, Comment and Follow are the key things you should be doing to grow a following on social media sites.
