When one pours concrete for curbs, a verandah slab ,what do you use to fill any voids left after forms are off?

Mortar contains bonding enhancers used for filling the spaces between stone, brick or concrete blocks during building. It is also used for repairing and renovating purposes. Mortar is applied as a thick paste, and it sets hard after a short time to create a tight seal between stones or bricks to prevent air and moisture from entering the structure. Mortar has the ability to bond with joint reinforcements, etc, in the bricks. It helps to make an aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound building. The first man-made mortar construction was of mud and clay, apart from the ancient Egyptians who used limestone bricks. Mortar is commonly in use nowadays, and available in different types; such as Portland mortar, which is made by Portland cement, sand and water. Another type is called lime mortar, which allows moisture to move freely, and evaporate from the surface. Mortar has a long life without having the need for constant repairs. Cement with lime and sand is called mortar; cement with sand is cement.

Portland cement sand and water and you grout it/rub it in with a block usually

You DON'T. If the concrete is properly mixed, and poured, there won't be such voids. If visible voids are present, CONCEALED voids are also present and need addressed as well. The proper solution is to rip it out and do it RIGHT the next time.

As a cement finisher would tell you: Try striping the forms while the concrete is still setting. then trowel or float the voids. It's takes experience to know when the best time is to start the striping. Too soon and it will fall apart, too late and it will be a patch job.
Now a patch job is something you don't wanna get into if the concrete has color added. (It will never be the same color) God help you!
The last guy had it right, set the forms to where there are no voids. And use a concrete vibrator to close up the air gaps in the wet concrete. Using a vibrator is another experience to know as you cant vibrate the concrete for too long as the rocks will end up at the bottom with the cement and sand at the top.

what you want to do is bang on the forms as the concrete is poured to release any trapped air bubbles, or use a concrete vibrator (preferred method) to eliminate the voids

mix a little mortar not to wet fill the holes rub it with a damp clothe or spounge
