POLL: Opinions on Pitbulls(the breed)?
Hi, I am 14.
Personally I belive people are to quick to judge, just because you hear something bad about them in the media does not mean there all the same- thats like saying every Asian eat dogs and cats. Yes some people in China do, doesn't mean they all do, doesn't mean every single Asian eats cats and dogs.- thats just an example/comparison. I think there great and misunderstood. I mean I guess they could be intimidating looking to some because, they tend to be strong and broad looking, but to me there not really. There really adorable when there puppies and i had a loose grown Pitbull(he was like probably 1-2 years old) follow me home before, wasn't aggressive, he was happy. And when I went in my house he wined at the door. I wasnt allowed to let him in but he was really sweet. So I went on the porch by him(no worries his owners eventually found him). Personally I think it is ridiculous pitbulls are getting banned from cities, i feel like its discrimination. I don't think any breed is bad or aggressive. Some dogs whether it'd be a pug or Labrador or any other dog can be brought up aggressive with the wrong owner, or sometimes some dogs are just not good with other dogs or children. I got bit on my face by a black Labrador, but I don't think if Labrador I see is a aggressive. I don't hate the dog that bit me, forgive and forget. I think there's always going to be a breed of dogs that will be discriminated against. First it was the Rottweiler, then German Shepard, now Pitbulls(because of horrible people who train them to fight for there disgusting sick entertainment!) i feel like its a cycle and its not going to end. I really love animals, all animals. I had a hobbie of watching animal cop, dog whisper, pit boss, pitbulls and parolees. I also read news like every single day in fifth and sixth grade about animals(abuse that was happening) i would continue watching my shows but i don't have cable anymore.
:/ I'm not trying to force my opinion on anyone, I'm not angry or anything. I just want to here what others think.

I am not saying whoever think Pitbulls are bad are wrong, I am just giving my opinion. Your all entitled to your opinion, I'm not here to judge or start arguments. So whats your opinion on Pitbulls?

They're misunderstood! If they are raised in the right environment, not all are bad.

I think they are nice dogs, but sadly they have a bad rep right now. Any dog can turn out to be mean, it is all in how you treat them, and raise them I think. Like you said in your post, in the past it was Rotts, German Shepards, and other dogs that had a bad rep. I am sure in time another dog will come along and get a bad rep. I honestly feel there are no bad dogs, just ppl and how they treat them and raise them

I think they're a good Breed... we have two Pitt-Mastiff mix girls currently here on the ranch.

We got them as rescue-puppies, and they've been raised as family dogs. They used to sleep in the house on our daughters' beds (now they spend Winter in our office and Summers on the porch)... they are just big goofy loving dogs. They're very social with guests... AND guest dogs. They get along VERY well with our horses, they don't torment our goats / sheep. They're also trained to respond to family voices, and OBEY commands.

We're also smart enough to have an area to put them during high-energy events like BBQs... 40+ guests might be too much for ANY dog, so they go in a nice 1/4 acre run down by our barn.

Just FYI - we have a total of 7 dogs - we also have a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix male who is buddies with the two Pitt-Mastiff girls. Also we have 2 Great Pyrenees who spend their time out in our pastures watching over our sheep and goat herds, and 2 Australian Cattle Dogs who live in the Barn / Stables with our Dairy Cows / Horses.

Beautiful animals and like other breeds seem to attract bad press.

I think they are too often poorly trained by irresponsible owners.
But I wouldn't want one of them running loose in my neighborhood when my grandchildren are visiting. I don't want to take one of the twins to the hospital because of a bad owner, or see an animal killed because its master was an idiot.
