What is a decent amount of internet traffic?
I started a blog a couple months ago and I just installed Statcounter on it to track my visitors.

I put it on my page about 3 and a half hours ago and I have 927 hits, 431 unique visits, 395 first time visits, 36 returning visits.

What type of traffic do bloggers usually aim for? I put it on there because I was curious but I don't really know if I'm doing average, or good or really good.

Anyone know what good numbers are?
Uh, now it's 940...
Oh and I made sure to exclude my ip address so it doesn't count me. I have a tendency to refresh the page every two seconds

I guess it depends on what you're trying to achieve with your site...if you're doing it just to be doing it, then traffic really doesn't matter. But if you're doing it to make money, it depends on your target audience, but a good number to consistently make money for me is around 5,000-10,000 hits per day...that's different for everyone, but with that number I can usually make around $300-$500 a day.

Check my source for another way that you can drive more traffic to your site.

Hi

Agree, depends on what you want to do with your blog.
But you already hit a 1000 a day, that's not too bad....

If you need some ideas to drive even more traffic, try one of these:

- PPC (like google adwords)
- Video Marketing (especially via YouTube)
- here at Yahoo! Answers
- do SEO
- submit articles
- Squidoo and Hubpages
- Forum and Blog commenting
- Craigslist
- Social Networking and Bookmarking
- email marketing
- Ad Swaps / Solo Ads
