I want to know the benefits of social networking sites for international student in UK. How social networking websites can help people who come to UK or abroad to study?

Most people use social networking sites such as Facebook. It's useful to keep in contact with people in your classes and it's helpful if you've missed a class or don't understand an assignment and so need the advice of your classmates. You don't always have occasion or the opportunity to get people's phone numbers in case you need your help and so being friends with classmates on a social networking site invaluable.

It is also useful for making friends since one can use the Facebook chat feature to talk to people and one can write on each others' walls or send them a private message. In the same way that one does not always have a classmate's phone number, one may also not have a classmate's email address and so messaging them on Facebook is a suitable alternative.

Many school/university clubs and societies have Facebook groups which you can join and then keep up to date with. This is especially helpful if a meeting is postponed or cancelled. Also, some universities have Facebook groups for you to ask questions and to make friends before the school year starts and this too can be invaluable.

One can also easily keep in contact with friends and family back home via the medium of Facebook or any other social networking site.
