Can you get addicted to the internet?

I was wondering if its actually possible to get hooked on the internet? My brother seems to spend a lot of time playing computer games and using social media, to the point where he stays up till like 2 in the morning.

Yes. Anything that delivers an endorphin "rush" can become addicting, although it may not be a chemical, physical addiction. And playing online or using social media does give a significant endorphin hit.

There's a lot of researchers who would answer "yes." Apparently the American Psychiatric Association might add Internet addiction to its list of disorders.

You should try and get your brother to cut back on the internet use. Staying up till 2 every night is terrible for your health.
