Do you ever feel like you were born in the wrong Era and why?
I was born in 96 therefore my generation has the lady gaga, ipods, instagram, justin bieber etc. I won't say I hate this era it's just that this era lacks originality and individuality. I came upon this issue when my Mom ( who was in her 20s in the 90s) let me go through all of her things from those days and I couldn't help but realise how much better things were back then. A lot of people would say that today's generation is better technology but in my opinion it's causing a lot of us to become lazy and no one wants to go outside or do something that doesn't involve the internet or television. In the 90s/80s music wasn't so similar the majority of famous people had talent, TV shows were amazing. If I were to pick a year to be born in it would be 1978 so I could be a kid in the 80s then grow up in the 90s and still be young by the time the 00s came around. What Era would you have liked to grow up in and why?

Aw, I feel bad for ya kid. I grew up in the 70's... we had sweet BMX bikes, firecrackers, and BB guns and no over freaked out parents to obsess over us getting hurt. I fell off my roof and got hit by 4 cars.. but I'm a freak of nature-indestructible. . I went to the frog pond near my house and caught a sweet tree frog. I listened to KISS and Led Zeppelin. Air jammed on a tennis racket. The 70's were a blast.... until Disco.... End of line.

Yes! Yes I agree I was born in 1988 (on Chrismas eve so let's say 1989 lol) so my childhood in the 1990's was pretty cool but it would have been better if I grew up in the 1980's I always regretted not to be born in 1978 or around. I agree that TV shows were amazing. My idol was Michael jackson (he still is) but at the time I was almost too young he did his last concerts when I was about 8 and unfortunalty I wasn't aware of that therefore never asked my mom to take me. the last album he released was in 2001 I was 12 after that I never got an opportunity to go to a concert. I really wish I could have gone to his'' Bad'' Tour in 1987-1988 which was too early for me Sad
I agree that tv shows were the best, artists were the best, movies also.
I think today's music, TV and films are boring, dull, and mediocre.

And I do think that technology has more drawbacks than advantages: kids rather play on their computer than outside, it keeps them from a healthy physical activity and social life, it gives them a virtual perception of the World not a real one, I think it's damaging for their physical and mental health. The internet and social media are keeping us from having a satisfying social life: We chat on BB or Iphone instead or having a face to face talk or giving a call, have a chat on Facebook instead of meeting outside for a drink or inviting each other home. Kids are too much on Facebook, the effects are devastating and said to increase social anxiety: body image issues, many kids and grown ups have said they feel sad and insecure when people upload pictures of themselves showing them in the best light, or having fun or update their status constantly with outstanding news giving the illusion that their life is ''perfect''. Cyber bullying has also added to the problem of school bullying: people allegedly insult someone directly or indirectly through comments, status updates sometimes post pictures manipulating information etc...

It is said that someone having hundreds of friends on Facebook can never have that much friends in real life and it gives them the illusion to be liked and surrounded by friends.

Obesity is a major national and even worldwide problem increased by internet and social media: people ,in addition of the processed foods and junk food that created the problem decades ago, become lazy just like you said: they stay hours on the computer, hours that could be spent going out, playing sports etc... the internet also has an addicting effect.

To sum up I also wish I grew up in the 1980's Smile even if we watch old TV shows, listen to older music we are perfectly right of doing so but we unfortunatly can't ignore the technology today's World is living in. But having a facebook account, an Iphone etc..should not keep us from doing the things we should do: go out, make REAL friends, play sports etc.
