how to get ppl to follow you on twitter?

so i recently made a twitter and im still not sure how to use it all the way so i only have like 4 tweets. thing is i dont want anyone in my family and friends to follow me im not hiding anything just wanna make it like a work sorta thing (i wanna become a journalist) so i want to like write things about entertainment so how do i get ppl to follow me.i know my page is kinda boring right now since i havent tweeted much but that will change.....

You can block your parent's accounts. And you can promote your twitter on forums and such (signatures).

Is your account already verified? As the first poster advised, you might want to promote your account on blog sites and word of mouth. You can also opt to follow other people who would return the favor and follow you as well these are the simplest things to gain followers. If you can spare the money then you might want to look into investing in a social media service. Since your main reason is to gain followers looks like business, then it might be a wise investment to do so. The decision is up to you.
