Is it weird if I just start talking to a girl on Facebook?

Some girls that go to my school added me on Facebook. One of them I talk to a little bit in class and the other I have never talked to before, but she is friends with some of my friends. Would it be weird If I started talking to them on Facebook. I think they are both quite attractive, but I don't have a crush on them. I just want to talk to them become friends. Will they find that weird?

There is nothing wrong with socialising. Yeah! if you have a crush on them, that's a bonus unless you mess up by becoming too hasty and scaring them off. Get to know one another and chatting is the best option

No I did that to guy at my school,I thought he was cute,never ever talked to him(never met him), we became kinda friends,he got my #,we texted, but my intentions were to make him like me(it worked). Then we had a fling,(; which was fine with me. And i got closer to people on their too, I messaged my two guy friends and we became really close, then in person one was awkward and the other was still cool(:
