You think your government isn't doing the same sort of thing behind the scenes? At least this went through Parliament and absolutely no one is happy about it.

They are just planning on doing the same thing that your own N.S.A does,
ie, listen out for key words.
I am all for it myself, if your not doing anything that may harm your national
security, then you have nothing to worry about.

Ever hear of a guy named Eric Holder?

He once argued that private individuals should NOT have access to encryption software...He continues to push ISPs to log all traffic and maintain those logs permanently.

As a young staff lawyer in the Clinton White House, Holder wrote papers justifying warrant-less wire-tapping and internet surveillance...

...these papers were later used to develop the electronic surveillance protocols in the Patriot Act..

Ah yes but in the tradition of democracy, transparency and openness ( or is that Peristroica and Glasnost) we are going to lobby for an independent body tasked to spy on government internet use to find out what their real agenda is and report back via twitter.
