How Twitter works and helps business to grow?

Hi everyone, we all know about face book. And I've seen lots of people use twitter.com. I opened an account- but I am not to sure how does it work? Like face book you can post anything, coments on freinds or lots of application as well as group.
Who can give me a getting started guide?
Also, how good it is to promote you business?

Twitter isn't really that difficult to understand and I believe that all businesses can get huge advantages out of it.

A guide isn't really necessary.

1. Make sure that your twitter and facebook accounts are linked. That way all your twitter updates are sent directly to Facebook.
2. I had a look at the site you have up and I'm not sure if it is your site or if you are selling there. Either way. When you load a new product, get the full URL to the product and head over to: http://tinyurl.com/ and shorten the long URL.
3. You can update your status by typing something like "New iPod with a very short description and the the tiny URL.
4. You can start by adding people to follow. I am maryke_anne and I will follow and vice versa. What I did was, I did a search for my name and added a lot of Marykes and got some more followers that way.
5. I also asked people on Facebook to follow me. And in two weeks I got 75 followers. It does take time, but you will get there.

The secret, I think, is to just Twitter away and the followers will follow. Happy twittering :-)
