right now the best way is to get into and be noted for something on facebook

Spend a few thousand dollars to buy ad words on Yahoo, Google,.. (check for the best price) and you will be rewarded with more business than you ever expected.

You can try all sorts of free posting such as on social networking sites (like facebook), but in the end you'll find it was a total waste of time and effort.

If you have no budget, forget it, just fold the website and do something else.

It depends what the website is about.
If it involves a product, go to facebook. Say what is being advertised in a fun yet simple way.

If it's just informational, then you can still go to Facebook, but you won't get many hits.

Create a few business cards going the same thing you would on Facebook.
Say something fun yet simple with the internet address on it and maybe your email.
Hand them out at local stores and other public places. (give some to family members and have them network for you too)
