do i have a severe case of body dysmorphic disorder?
i looked on wikipedia and im gonna list all the symptoms that apply to me:

Symptoms
-Obsessive thoughts about (a) perceived appearance defect(s).
-Obsessive and compulsive behaviors related to (a) perceived appearance defect(s) (see section below).
-Major depressive disorder symptoms.
-Delusional thoughts and beliefs related to (a) perceived appearance defect(s).
-Social and family withdrawal, social phobia, loneliness and self-imposed social isolation.
-Suicidal ideation.
-Anxiety; possible panic attacks.
-Chronic low self-esteem.
-Feeling self-conscious in social environments; thinking that others notice and mock their perceived defect(s).
-Strong feelings of shame.
-Dependent personality: dependence on others, such as a partner, friend or family.
-Inability to work or an inability to focus at work due to preoccupation with appearance.
-Problems initiating and maintaining relationships (both intimate relationships and friendships).
-Repetitive behavior (such as constantly (and heavily) applying make-up; regularly checking appearance in mirrors;
-Seeing slightly varying image of self upon each instance of observing a mirror or reflective surface.

i know those are like nearly all of them but the compulsive behaviours are:

-Compulsive mirror checking, glancing in reflective doors, windows and other reflective surfaces.
-Alternatively, inability to look at one's own reflection or photographs of oneself; also, removal of mirrors from the home.
-Compulsive skin-touching, especially to measure or feel the perceived defect.
-Seeking reassurance from loved ones.
-Self-harm.
-Comparing appearance/body parts with that/those of others, or obsessive viewing of favorite celebrities or models whom the person suffering from BDD wishes to resemble.

this sounds like a severe one but im not sure. what can i do to help myself? btw talking to a councillor doesnt help me at all and i always tear up when i look in the mirror...

I don't think researching this is helpful for you. If you really think you have it then go and get diagnosed properly. Don't rely on a list of symptoms to give you an answer.

Stop reading teen glamor magazines, fashion magazines, online self-diagnosis lists. Don't watch the Kardashians, Hollywood hoopla or the like. You have buried yourself under a sickening pile of bullying media crap. Cleopatra, btw, was not a beautiful woman, but she did nicely for herself (up to a point) and she spoke 9 languages.

It looks to me like you copied and pasted what google says BDD is.... why would I read all that? I know what it is... What body part do you have an issue with?......this has nothing to do with you

Yes, definitely. A therapists job is to help you and you should not be wasting your time and money on someone who isn't helping you at all. You should find a new therapist. You should also talk to a therapist about going on medication. Good luck.
