What would be a good research topic related to tourism?
Please help me generate ideas for a PhD research topic in the field of Tourism Studies. My interests include culture, third culture, tourist perceptions, tourist experiences, technology, needs and wants, social media, gender studies, and education.
I have not applied for my PhD yet and maybe I am not "smart enough" to pursue it, but this is a start. By simply asking for ideas while I brainstorm my topic of choice, I believe it has nothing to do with being mature or not. Any positive contribution would be appreciated.

Maybe you could do a study on the impact of violence on tourism such as the number of tourists who visited the Egyptian sites before and after the revolution in Egypt. Does drug violence, carjackings and gang violence curtail tourism in American cities like Miami, New Orleans or New York City by correlating times of high crime rates and low crime rates with the number of tourists and whether if affects foreign tourists more than local tourists. You could look into how the drug wars affect tourism in Mexico or Columbia.
