I found a website about...a year ago, maybe 2 which gave you free hosting for your website as long as you were an active member of the forum.

You would first have to post something like 3 or 5 decent posts on the forum, then you had to send in a little description of what you want to use the site for, then they would give you the free domain.

Does anyone know what this site is called?

And if not, does anyone know of a good free hosting site that allows you to use google adsense etc, for your own gain?
