why can't some of my windows applications connect to the net?
it's really weird. I'm using windows 7. first Chrome cant connect to the net, but Firefox can. I can login to Skype, but I cant import contacts, and even the skype application's home fails to load. I can't log in to facebook messenger or yahoo! messenger, but i can access them fine on Firefox. What's wrong and how do i fix it? I already tried taking my firewall down, my antivirus down. i tried rebooting. but NOTHING. not even windows update is downloading, but i can download fine with firefox. WHAT IS UP?

Sounds like a cluster fuk to me, no idea why some would work and some wouldnt unless maybe you have a trojan or something that is causing issues. Have you ran scans with your virus software and malware scans. I would uninstall chrome its crapola

open up a command prompt and use "netsh" to reset your winsock and tcp/ip ..

click start and type "cmd" (without quotes)
right click the CMD icon and choose "run as administrator"
answer "yes" if UAC prompts you
in the black "command prompt" window, type the following two lines followed by pressing enter:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

reboot and test your apps.

Everything works fine with Firefox correct? Have you tried to uninstal and reinstall Chrome?
